The Rise of Waray Writers

Recently, we launched books by two writers from Leyte: Doctor Jervy Plimaco Garcia of a memoir, The Doctor is Finally In and Jeian Nirza Putol of Agianan, a poetry collection. While different in genre, both are easy to read, reflective and relatable.

The back-to-back launch of Waray writers only proves that with the accessibility of indie publishing, writers from the southern part of the country can compete in the literary world.

THE DOCTOR IS FINALLY IN

The book is an intimate look at the author’s journey of pursuing not only a dream but a calling to “the study of the best creation ever made—human life”, according to Clinical Associate Professor, Karin V. Estepa-Garcia. The author also weaves into her journey the power of friendship and family, the necessity of taking care of yourself, the appreciation of the enormity of small things, the value of time, the treasure of good teachers, and the resilience of Filipinos.

Agianan
