Finding What Is Meant for You: Jane Chen on Love, Life, and Her New Book “Meant”
“Never rush, what is meant for you will find you—at the right place, right time, and right moment.” This is the message the author, Jane Chen, incorporated in her book. If you’re wondering how this blog post came up to in your feed, it is probably because this is meant for you too.
One of 8Letters authors, Jane Chen, recently published her second book titled, Meant. This book follows the series of Mended, which was published year 2025 and had been successful ever since.
The book is about the love story about the love story of the lead character and her past experiences when it came to love. It’s a finding of oneself through their own journey and experiences—in love, life, and lessons that they learn along the way. – Jane Chen, author of Mended and Meant.
The inspiration behind Meant and the story that needed to be told.
I felt the need to write a second book to help give justice to the lead character in the story. She deserves an ending and showcase in the lessons and experiences she needed to find herself and what love means for her and relationship.
The Message and Reflection Behind Meant
As a hopeless romantic, I’ve read a lot of romance books who have always written the great things and the progress in leading to one. I hoped to write this in a way that would showcase the learnings of the lead character as well so it can resonate hopefully with the readers what lead character had to go through. As a reflection question for readers after reading Meant, perhaps it would be, do you think where you are right now is where you need to be? If the answer is no, then try to write and reflect why. Then from there maybe your exactly where you’re meant to be.
The Writing Process Behind Meant Compared to Mended, the first book.
The way I wrote for this book is actually looking back on chapters of all the boys that the lead character has gone through. This is so that it can help build the lead’s character storyline when it comes to finding her the one—because how can you know love when you’ve never felt it with anyone else. So going through her crush phases, dating phases, and relationship phase—it helps the readers understand that sometimes we have to go through chapters of our lives for us to learn and realize what do we really want for us in the future.
The Meaning Behind the Title Meant and Its Connection to the Story
I felt the title Meant was timely for this one as sometimes we think so hardly that we’ve lost our the one but maybe all really isn’t lost. Sometimes the one thing we think when bad things happen to us is that we’re just having some damn bad luck—but maybe it’s a redirection of some sort. This is why I entitled the story Meant, because I have this belief that what’s meant for you will always find you—no matter what. Perhaps the person you wanted to be with no longer was on the same path of growth you, or perhaps they are simply the lessons you need to take.
Future Writing Plans and a Teaser of What’s to Come
Yes, the next book is the last book for the trilogy of the Eventually series. It’s the teaser of what happens next in the life of the lead character. So expect another take when it comes to writing as this is another way simply by looking at the past, present, and future as well.
