8Letters is Going to frankfurt Book Fair 2022
Here’s one secret we’ve been keeping for too long. We’ve been sending books via the National Book Development Board for the biggest book fair in the world, but for the first time ever, we’re personally traveling to Germany to attend it on 19 – 23 October 2022.
This year’s theme is Translate. Transfer. Transform, a year dedicated to an exchange of ideas and understanding through and beyond languages and culture. The event is the perfect opportunity to learn about new perspectives and contribute innovative point of views. It is the event where all the key industry players, best-selling authors, and fans of culture from all over the world come together at the exhibition site.
Another segment to look forward to is having Spain as the guest of honor, where we can expect to experience the rich literature and culture carrying the motto “Creatividad desbordante” in Spanish. From fiction to poetry, children’s books to comics, and essays to audiobooks, visitors of the Frankfurt Book Fair will encounter an enormous range of literature from Spain – including the very unique literatures from the Catalan, Galician and Basque language regions.
One of the books that we’ll be bringing with us is our best-selling science fiction, Fate of a Distant Future by Renato Tranquilino, who will also be flying all the way from Manila to Frankfurt. The book consists of four short stories: Betrayal, Crankbait, Bait and Switch and Family that tackle the Philippines centuries later. The graphic novel was also nominated for the Readers Choice Awards.
8Letters will continue to release more science fiction this year under #PinoySciFi, a series of anthologies featuring only the best of the best. #MitolohiyaPH, a series of anthologies that feature mythological creatures continue to soar higher with the fifth book on the way.
In the meantime, it’s wise to secure an exhibition ticket to the book fair with only 57 days to go.
