Description
“It is my prayer that by baring open my soul like this, that it would also give you the courage to be seen, and loved, and held in your grief.”
Have you ever wondered if there is a place we can all sail to?
Whispered from journal pages, held through grief, we present to you a collection of poems by Dianne Chan. Here, you will find the warm, fuzzy feeling evoked by a pastel-colored birthday cake to the angry, bewildering sensation of losing a friend.
“VENTURE is a debut poetry collection that traces the fragile architecture of grief, friendship, memory, and becoming. Moving between intimate recollection and philosophical reflection, Dianne Kristine Chan writes with unguarded lyricism, lingering on ordinary revelations: coffee shared in silence, cities remembered, wounds carried with grace. Resisting spectacle, these poems contemplate the aftermath of loss, and beauty that endures within the fracture. VENTURE is a meditation on softness in a hardened world, and the quiet courage of beginning again.”

“Dianne writes in VENTURE life in its fullness, bittersweet fleeting memories shaping the everyday, each joyous moment grounded with the reality of faults and imperfections. Yet behind each dark cloud, shines warm sunlight, reminding us there is hope. Her words dance in blues and pinks, lulling you to a slumber, a respite from the burning world. In here, you can find solace. In here, you will find peace and the energy to wake up another morning. “Don’t let them dim the goodness of life”, she pens. Go and be radiant.”
– Regina Isabel Abola, Culture Communicator, Salamisim
“Dianne’s poems are reflective of a poet wrestling with faith and privilege, through memories of girlhood and friendship, expressed in various forms, revealing an interplay of grief and beauty. These are poems to sit with on a cold and lonely day.”
