Description
“I am a relic of plastic toys,
and porcelain trinkets,
of late lunches, and many crises.
Under soft blades of grass,
the earth’s rind cake my fingertips.
And all at once,
The weight of growth is bearable
as a thousand sinking ships”
– an excerpt from the poem ‘Turning Twenty’
Pat Marquez, now in her 20s, is a Filipina poet who plays around themes of nostalgia, beauty, and coming-of-age; often taking the narrative turn to keep an essence of storytelling in her works. Trinkets of Girlhood (2023) is her official debut zine, an intimate nod to her teenage years.
