Description
Kim Unidad’s poetry collection delves playfully into the multifaceted nature of sex and love, and the attendant desire in every turn. There’s a certain unapologetic rawness in his poems, which allows readers to explore the rather complex terrain of love and sex, and many other things in between.
– Jerry R. Yapo, author of Artfully Speaking & Other Essays
Kim Unidad is a Filipino writer and poet whose works explore themes of identity, resilience, and the enduring human spirit. Growing up in Angono, Rizal, the Art Capital of the Philippines, he was immersed in a community rich in creativity and tradition, influenced by the legacies of Carlos “Botong” Francisco, National Artist for Visual Arts (Painting), and Maestro Lucio Diestro San Pedro Sr., National Artist for Music.
Although he earned his degree in Economics from the University of Santo Tomas, Faculty of Arts and Letters, he was also shaped by the university’s vibrant literary culture under the guidance of the late Ophelia Alcantara Dimalanta, who served as Dean during his college years.
Since October 12, 2019, he has been sharing his poems on his Facebook page “Tula at Sining,” where he continues to inspire readers and promote contemporary Filipino poetry.
He is also a graduate of the poetry workshop conducted by Linangan sa Imahen, Retorika, at Anyo (LIRA) on December 8, 2023, under the supervision of Mr. Virgilio S. Almario, National Artist for Literature. Through his creative expression, Kim Unidad continues to give voice to the hopes, struggles, and quiet triumphs of the Filipino soul, bridging art, literature, and life through words that reflect his heritage and heart.
