Description

How do we love the version of ourselves without the person that shaped it?
Set in the aftermath of loss, Paper-Soft follows Christopher Kinsley, a young man navigating grief after the death of his girlfriend, Stephanie. Unable to face his sorrow, Chris buries himself in academics and work. But illusions don’t last forever. Three years later, the heavy red curtains of his busy life begin to fall one by one, leaving him bare – with nothing left but her memory and unconfronted grief.

In a desperate bid to help him move on, his traditional Asian mother signs him up for an outreach volunteer program. There, he meets Blue, a reserved and deliberate young woman whose younger sister, Mia, drowned in a river under mysterious circumstances

Alongside fellow volunteers Cameron and Gaz, Chris and Blue begin to piece together fragments of their ghosts: a lost journal found in the park that might have belonged to Mia, a postponed rave where Stephanie could still be alive, and unanswered questions about those they lost.

Will Chris find a way out of his grief, or will he remain stuck in a world that no longer exists? Who does the journal belong to? And who was the girl on the bicycle?
Could someone’s ghost still be alive?
