My early years were marked by challenges and poor choices. Failing to take high school seriously, I found myself entangled in a world of gangs and violence, culminating in a night spent in prison—a stark moment that brought anguish to my loved ones, especially to my mother.
However, my life took a transformative turn when I encountered Proverbs 12:1 during a moment of deep reflection. This proverb became a guiding light, inspiring me to break free from destructive patterns and pursue a path of redemption and personal growth. Despite facing challenges in my youth, including a brief encounter with the law, I resolved to turn my life around.
Enrolling in military training through college provided a turning point. Although health concerns prevented me from serving in active duty, the discipline, principles, and values instilled during my Military Science 3 training profoundly influenced my character. The structured environment of military training taught me invaluable lessons in self–discipline, leadership, and respect for authority. While my initial understanding of the Bible and spiritual matters was limited, my experiences in military training and personal introspection deepened my relationship with God. Today, I continue to pursue spiritual growth and understanding through prayer, study, and reflection.
And as for my journey into writing poetry began amidst the challenges of my youth, initially as a means of self-expression through rap lyrics and songs. However, I soon realized that this pursuit was driven more by a desire to impress others than to convey genuine emotion and depth.
It was during a pivotal moment at Mountain View Bible Baptist Church that my perspective on poetry transformed profoundly. Inspired by a church member who passionately wrote poems about God, I found myself drawn to the depth and sincerity of her words. Her passing marked a turning point in my own writing journey, prompting me to channel my creativity towards poems that explore the transformative power of faith, spirituality, and personal reflection.
Today, my poetry is a reflection of my journey of faith—a testament to how God’s grace and mercy have molded and transformed me. Through verses that speak of redemption, forgiveness, and the saving grace of Jesus Christ, I aim to share the profound truths and experiences that have shaped my spiritual walk.
Residing in San Lorenzo, Guimaras, Philippines with my beautiful and supportive wife, Czarrine, and our adventurous little explorer, Cledwyn, life is a delightful blend of love, laughter, and inspiration, As I continue to grow as a husband and father, I find joy in sharing my journey through The Verse in Words. This collection of poems and reflections, born from personal experiences and spiritual growth, serves as a testament to the transformative power of faith and the enduring truths found in the Scripture.
